Israel Porter asked me to go to the next ball with him. I said yes, that was the right thing to do. He was the first person to ask, and besides, he might be the only one to ask. Today has been such a wonderful day! This morning, I had the pleasure of being introduced to the Crisp family. The daughter, Miss Abigail Crisp, is my age and very friendly, I'm sure we're going to get along just fine. Then, around noon time, I ran into Mister Porter and we had a nice little chat. He's taking a break from drinking, you know. When I arrived home this evening, Ludwig was sittng outside so I joined him. I like him a whole bunch, more than any other man here. I think he likes me too, because he kept complimenting me and everything. I hope more people start liking him, he's a very sweet guy. I'm trying to think up a nickname for him because he (sort of) has one for me-any suggestions?

I'm a little confused. Should I want women to be able to marry other women? I mean, I'm for women's rights, I want women to be equal with men. Men marry women. Therefore, shouldn't I want women to marry women, too? I know that it's wrong, but could it also be right? Oh dear, I don't know what to do.

I had a nice chat with Mister Crabtree today. The older one, that is. I think we both had fun. He was celebrating how much he had done at work, so he invited me to celebrate with him, which was very nice. Then, because he thought I'd get bored if he told me about the ship he was working on, we talked about chickens and Mister Trueman instead. He started off looking rather happy, but, at certain points in our conversation, he seemed a little down. I hope I didn't say anything to upset him.

Now I have to try and make some dinner without burning the house down.

Mister Trueman's funeral was awfully sad, I bet everyone cried. I hope they find the Damned man that  killed him. At least lots of people showed up for the funeral, that part was nice. I didn't like wearing black, though. I look better in colors like blue and pink and white.

Poor Lucien, he seems so quiet and shy. I feel silly for saying what I did, I hope he isn't angry with me. You'd think that a person living with someone like Miss Crabtree wouldn't be so thin, though. But he's nice, and that's all that matters.

I think I'm going to try and make pancakes in the morning, I haven't been practicing as much as I'd like to.
